Bleach Festival 2023

2023 marks the 12th anniversary of Australia's premier and most exciting site-specific contemporary art festival. The BLEACH* Festival will continue to play an essential role in telling local tales and providing significant cultural activities on the Gold Coast in 2023.

BLEACH* Festival

For its 12th anniversary, the festival will present the most extensive program in Bleach* history from August 3 to 13! Over 300 artists and 218 performances will emerge across 38 events distributed across five major hubs.

Yes, you read that right! The five locations include the North Burleigh coastal sanctuary, the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, HOTA, and Currumbin Valley. The fifth is a fascinating new facility inside the newly opened Broadbeach Cultural Precinct.

Aside from this, the BLEACH* Festival will be present across the city with a fantastic convoy of Monster Trucks: an 8-truck fleet displaying commissioned artwork by a local artist. A fleet of MONSTER TRUCKS (Nucon cement mixers) morphs into works of art and cruise around the streets of the Gold Coast. The moving art gallery, the perfect canvas for a kaleidoscope of hideous paintings, is inspired by Stephen King's horror short tale, Trucks, in which conscious technology enslaves people.

You can take part in a variety of festival events. But if you book your Gold Coast Self-Contained Apartments in the right spot, you can catch all the significant events, especially at the newest BLEACH* Festival hub.

Stay with us at Trilogy Surfers Paradise. Our three sleek and modern holiday apartment buildings are close to quiet Budds Beach and just minutes from bustling Surfers Paradise.

BLEACH* AT HOTA Outdoor Stage

August 3 - 5

Based on real stories, the new action-packed music theatrical performance Roller Coaster celebrates hope and how the bumpy ride of life on wheels can save you. You'll be on the edge of your seat as hundreds of local roller skaters, a massive live band, and an all-star ensemble converge on stage.

BLEACH* AT BROADBEACH

August 10 to 12

The newest hub in Broadbeach Cultural Precinct allows you to immerse yourself in wonder and delight. It's the kind of location where no two evenings are the same. Several events ensue on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights during the second week of BLEACH*.

You can catch a variety of events, including:

  • The Pageant: The competition is a satirical and darkly hilarious cabaret about a disastrous children's beauty competition. The Pageant, an unexpected and hilarious hour of physical comedy and original music, casts the audience as contestants and overbearing Hollywood parents.

  • River Songs – Shugorei: Shugorei is the adventurous musical pair Nozomi Omote and Thomas Green, who merge live percussion and electronics. The result is a breathtaking auditory clash on stage, blending Nozomi's Japanese roots and classical training with Thomas' electric compositions.

  • Bliss: Dress up, dance, and have fun at the cosmic nightclub, which boasts clairvoyant mediums and amorous astronauts. It is a deep-space disco reality between Studio 54 and A Galaxy Far, Far Away, and it is open to everyone in the LGBTQIA+ galaxy, their allies, and all extraterrestrial life forms.

BLEACH* AT BOTANIC GARDENS

August 11 to 13

Melody and rhythm fill the Botanic Gardens, taking you to another planet. This tree-shaded outdoor stage commemorates Australia's top singers, musicians, and songwriters.

You can catch the following music performances.

  • Edge of the Lens: The Australian premiere features some of the country's most daring and imaginative female composers and songwriters, hosted and co-curated by acclaimed concert pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska and visionary artist Tarita Botsman.

  • Botanic Melodies: The Con Artists, an 18-piece Riverside Guitar Ensemble and Queensland Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra, flood the air with virtuoso sounds at an outdoor concert.

  • Meditation Garden: Vanessa Tomlinson, triple Grammy award-winning flautist Tim Munro, and Queensland Conservatorium students will take you to a magical world of music.

  • Joni Mitchell's 'Blue' 50th Anniversary: Let ARIA Award winner Katie Noonan serenade you into the sunset with songs from Joni Mitchell's iconic album, Blue.
